About Us

From ale to art…

The Brewery Arts Centre in Kendal is a hub of creativity in this Lake District Town.

From humble beginnings as a small theatre, the centre now has a 450 capacity music venue, three cinemas, visual arts and photographic galleries, a drama studio, art and crafts workshops, darkroom facilities, play group and meeting rooms, a great restaurant, the famous Vats Bar, an art-house cinema and Warehouse Café and a fantastic theatre seating 260.

The Brewery is known nationally as a centre for world-class theatre, music, art and events, which, for a rural market town, is a true asset. It also hosts international festivals such as the Kendal Mountain Festival, the Women’s Art International Festival and Gateway International Roots Music Festival.
The Brewery hosts a number of eateries to cater to all tastes. Whether you are looking for a quiet spot to read a book with a cappuccino, or want to host a birthday party tea for a group of seven-year-olds, you can find what you’re looking for at the Brewery.
Choose from The Grain Store Restaurant, Vats Bar, Warehouse Cafe (with free WiFi), the intro cafe,  a family friendly environment, and the new Cafe in the Forest at Grizedale, Lake District National Park.
